About Our theatre
The Miller Community Theatre is dedicated to producing a broad range of theatrical presentations of the highest possible quality. We strive for accessibility, inclusion, and diversity in all areas of our operations. We want to provide an outlet for creative community involvement in the arts, as well as making an essential contribution to the quality of life in our community.
Jen and Marty met on the beach in the Miller Beach neighborhood of Gary, Indiana back in 2021. Jen and Marty formed an alliance with the ultimate goal of bringing quality theatrical productions to their beloved beach community. The first year was a whirlwind of fundraising and building a supportive team that were as passionate as they were about the performing arts. Each year since, MCT has grown in different ways and experienced many successes much to the awe and delight of Jen and Marty.
We're not like other theatre groups, we're a cool theatre group. We say this a lot as our style is mostly relaxed and loose. Our main goal is to make sure everyone, whether cast or crew, is having a good time. We gravitate towards weird, wonderful and wickedly funny shows that lean into dark humor and more adult themes. From cult classics to clever originals, we love theatre that’s witty and just a little bit wicked. If it's smart, subversive or strange, it's probably on our list. Oh and our cast parties are epic events that have become legendary.
To date, MCT has produced 8 shows, many of which sold out before the opening weekend. We estimate that we have brought upwards of 500 new faces to the Marshall J Gardner center for the Arts. Our production of Vagina Monologues was our very first and very successful fundraising effort for another local nonprofit that supports at risk women, The Sojourner Truth House. Our theatre group is run entirely by volunteers. We thrive thanks to the passion and dedication of our board, directors, performers and community supporters
If you would like to come join our theatre party, please send us an email at millercommunitytheatre@gmail.com. You can also follow us on Facebook or Instagram. Whether it's being a donor or a cast, crew or audience member, you definitely won't regret getting on board with MCT. Always remember that theatre is magic and so is Miller Beach!
